Aetas or ati is the group of pieople who first lived in the island of Panay. Participants in the festival now imitate their dark colored skin curly hair and showcase a lot of street dancing, in celebration of the early settlers.
The fetival is held in many towns of Aklan, you just have to choose where you want to have fun. The hype and frenzy are infectious!
Costumes and lively dancing are products of hard work and perseverance.
Ati Atihan is not merely a fun-filled activity but also a religious one in nature. Devotees of the baby Jesus or Sto. Nino celebrate in this festival.
